(Juba) – A young boy’s appearance on a popular South Sudanese talk show has led to an unexpected education sponsorship, thanks to his natural charm and deep appreciation for the country’s traditional culture.

Bol Bith, affectionately known as “Majok Siko Jr.” in honour of the famous South Sudanese wrestler Majok Siko, gained nationwide attention following his performance on Beledna TalkShow.

The boy demonstrated impressive traditional dance moves and shared his admiration for local wrestling traditions,  becoming an instant favourite among viewers.

During the programme, Bol casually mentioned that he sends money to his family in the village using MTN’s “MoMo” service. His comment caught the attention of mobile money company mGurush, who responded publicly by offering to sponsor Bol’s education from Primary One to Primary Eight.

According to mGurush representatives, the decision was motivated by Bol’s inspiring energy and by his reference to a competitor’s platform.

The company saw this as an opportunity to engage the youth and support community development while encouraging wider awareness of their own mobile money services.

mGurush stated that the full sponsorship will cover tuition, uniforms, and school supplies, a package estimated to be worth approximately 3.5 million South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) or around $750 at the official exchange rate. At the parallel market rate, this amounts to roughly $500.
