(JUBA) – MTN South Sudan has cautioned mobile users across the country about a fake online link that is circulating on social media, urging the public to avoid engaging with it. According to the company, the link invites users to answer several questions before pushing them to a WhatsApp page. MTN says this is a scam designed to mislead customers.
The company shared images showing how the scam page appears in order to help the public recognise and avoid it. MTN stressed that it does not send links to customers and does not ask for one time passwords, personal information, or any form of payment. It said all official communication is issued only through its verified Facebook page.
MTN encouraged customers in Juba and other regions to remain alert as digital scams continue to rise in South Sudan, where mobile phone use has grown quickly in recent years. The company advised the public to ignore suspicious links, especially those that promise prizes, money, or lottery winnings.
