(JUBA) – The Ministry of Mining has launched a new online portal for mining license applications, allowing investors and companies to complete the entire process remotely. Minister of Mining Martin Gama Abucha announced the platform on 6 December 2025 during an interview on SSBC, emphasising its potential to reduce delays and simplify the permit system.
Abucha said the digital platform is an upgrade over the previous system, enabling applicants from anywhere in the world to submit their documents online. Investors can now complete applications without visiting the Ministry physically, whether they are in South Sudan, Europe, or other parts of Africa.
“The new platform is much better than the older system. You can do everything online. You don’t need to submit paperwork physically to the Ministry. You can apply from Europe, South Africa, or even from your village here in South Sudan,” he said.
The system is designed for both desktop and mobile users, allowing easy upload of all required documentation. It also integrates a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, which helps Ministry staff efficiently review, track, and process applications.
Industry analysts say the move could improve transparency, reduce corruption risks, and attract more international mining investors to South Sudan, which remains rich in minerals but has faced bureaucratic challenges in licence issuance.

The Ministry said the portal is part of a broader effort to modernise South Sudan’s mining sector and make it more investor-friendly. Officials expect that easier access to mining licenses will increase investment, generate revenue, and support economic growth across the country.
