A funeral service took place in Juba on Saturday to pay tribute to the distinguished diplomat Lumumba Makelele Nyajok. The sombre event was attended by high-ranking government officials, diplomats, colleagues, family members, and members of the general public.

During the service, the Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, H.E. Jemma Nunu Kumba, delivered a speech emphasising the importance of national unity and the crucial role of peace in tackling the challenges faced by South Sudan.

Hon. Ambassador Monday Semaya K. Kumba, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, praised Ambassador Nyajok as a dedicated public servant who represented South Sudan with excellence in various diplomatic capacities. He assured that the ministry will continue to provide assistance to the late ambassador’s family.

Furthermore, the Governor of Central Equatoria State, H.E. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, acknowledged Ambassador Nyajok’s valuable contributions to South Sudan’s diplomatic efforts, expressing appreciation for his service both within the government and diplomatic spheres.

Throughout his remarkable diplomatic career, the late Ambassador Nyajok participated in numerous bilateral and multilateral discussions on behalf of South Sudan. His duties included representing the country at international forums and engaging in regional cooperation initiatives.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, colleagues and family members shared touching tributes, praising Ambassador Nyajok’s professional accomplishments and his significant impact on South Sudan’s foreign relations.
