(JUBA CITY) – A new recreational site known as Juba Dream Park is set to open to the public in December at the former location of Central Park near Modiria Roundabout in Juba. The project is expected to bring new life to the capital’s outdoor leisure space and promote tourism activity within Central Equatoria State.

The Central Equatoria State Minister for Animal Resources, Fisheries and Tourism, Alex Lotiyu, said the development will serve as “a green lung for Juba, a gathering place for families, and a destination for visitors seeking a peaceful escape in the heart of the city.”

The park aims to provide a safe and pleasant public environment for recreation, family activities, and relaxation. It will also enhance the city’s image as a growing urban centre ready to attract both local and foreign visitors.

Officials say the site will include shaded sitting areas, walkways, children’s play sections, and small food outlets managed by local entrepreneurs. This is expected to create employment opportunities and encourage small business activities linked to hospitality and tourism.

The project comes as part of wider efforts by the state government to improve public spaces and support sustainable tourism growth. In recent years, Juba has witnessed increasing demand for recreational areas due to rapid population growth and limited public parks.

Once opened, Juba Dream Park is projected to attract thousands of visitors every month, generating both social and economic benefits for the community. It is also expected to serve as a venue for public events, cultural festivals, and outdoor markets, giving residents and tourists a new space to experience the city’s diversity and creativity.
