(JUBA) – The South Sudan Roads Authority (SSRA) has signed a contract with Ethiopian-based Stadia Engineering Works Consultant to prepare the concept design for the Pagak–Maiwut–Paloch Road. The announcement was made on the SSRA’s official online portals on Monday, marking the start of the preliminary engineering phase of the project.
The concept design will define the proposed road alignment, establish design standards, outline preliminary traffic parameters, and assess environmental and social factors. It will also provide indicative cost estimates, which will form the foundation for detailed engineering design and the eventual procurement of a construction contractor.
Officials expect the road project to improve connectivity within Upper Nile State, providing easier access to oil-producing areas and facilitating trade and humanitarian movement along the corridor. The improved road network is also anticipated to stimulate socio-economic development in towns and communities along the route.
