(KYIV) – Ukrainian Special Operations Forces carried out overnight strikes on Russian military targets in occupied Crimea and the Zaporizhzhia region on 17 March 2026, according to official Ukrainian sources.

Units conducted precision strikes against enemy infrastructure as part of ongoing operations targeting Russian military assets on occupied Ukrainian territory.

In the settlement of Verkhniokurhanne in Crimea, Ukrainian forces struck a command post controlling missile systems as well as a mobile enemy fire group. The operation aimed to disrupt Russian command and control capabilities linked to missile deployments.

In Shkilne, also in Crimea, a drone strike hit a concealed component of a Russian S 400 air defence system. The system is a key element of Russia’s layered air defence network and is used to protect strategic military assets.

In the town of Terpinnia in the Zaporizhzhia region, Ukrainian forces struck an ammunition depot belonging to Russia’s 58th Combined Arms Army. The strike targeted logistical supplies supporting Russian frontline operations.

The operations form part of Ukraine’s continued campaign of targeted strikes against Russian military infrastructure in occupied areas. Ukrainian officials said such strikes are designed to degrade the enemy’s operational capacity.

Sustained attacks on layered air defence systems are assessed to significantly reduce Russia’s ability to control airspace and protect its forces. Analysts say this may create further operational opportunities for Ukrainian forces.

Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces said they will continue asymmetric operations aimed at strategically weakening Russian military capabilities in the war.

The command reiterated its operational motto, stating that its forces operate beyond conventional limits in pursuit of military objectives.
