(Juba) – South Sudanese music artist Silver X has announced a temporary break from releasing new music, saying he is on a personal journey to rediscover himself and his purpose.

In a message shared with his followers, Silver X – whose real name is Okuta Ceaser Malish Jeremiah – stated, “I will not be releasing any new musical pieces until I find my new self and purpose.”

He thanked his most loyal supporters, whom he referred to as his “ride or die,” encouraging them to continue enjoying his past catalogue while he takes time for self-reflection. “Enjoy the Legendary music till the new Silver X arrives,” he wrote.

Silver X is one of South Sudan’s most recognisable musicians, known for blending music with social messages and representing the voice of a generation. His works such as Fattisu Shockoal and Wele gained national recognition for highlighting real life challenges facing South Sudanese youth, including unemployment and inequality.

The “pause” follows more than 15 years of active contributions to South Sudan’s music scene. Fans and fellow artists have shown support online, with many expressing admiration for his honesty and wishing him strength in his personal journey.

Silver X has been an influential voice, both musically and culturally, having won multiple awards and even being recognised internationally by the Foreign Policy magazine in 2014 as one of the “Top 100 Global Thinkers.”
