(LYMAN, DONETSK OBLAST) – Ukrainian border guard drone operators have destroyed a Russian Grad multiple rocket launcher system in the Lyman sector, according to the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

The strike was carried out by pilots from the Phoenix unit of the Pomsta Brigade, a border guard formation operating along the eastern front.

Video released by the unit shows the Russian rocket launcher fully loaded with ammunition before it was hit and destroyed. According to Ukrainian officials, the vehicle burned intensely after the strike and the fire was visible from a considerable distance.

Ukrainian military sources say that over the past several days forces operating in the same sector have detected and destroyed two Russian Grad systems.

The Grad launcher is widely used by Russian forces as an artillery platform capable of firing multiple rockets in rapid succession against Ukrainian positions.

In addition to the destruction of the rocket launchers, Ukrainian forces report that Russian troops have also lost several artillery pieces during recent fighting along this section of the front.

Ukrainian units say dozens of Russian assault troops have been killed or wounded in the same period.

Ukrainian forces also targeted drone infrastructure used by Russian units. According to the Phoenix unit, several locations from which Russian personnel were controlling unmanned aerial vehicles were identified and destroyed.

Ukrainian officials said the strikes eliminated both the drone control equipment and the operators managing the systems.

The Phoenix unit stated that operations in the sector remain ongoing and that additional strikes against Russian positions are expected.

The Lyman direction has seen continued fighting as Ukrainian forces attempt to weaken Russian artillery support and drone operations along the eastern front.
