(DONETSK REGION, UKRAINE) – Ukrainian drone forces destroyed a radar station belonging to a Russian S 300V surface to air missile system on 28 February in the Donetsk region, according to military officials.

Pilots from the 412th Separate Brigade, known as “Nemesis”, of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces carried out the strike using a Ukrainian produced middle range strike capability.

The target was a self propelled radar station that forms part of the S 300V anti aircraft and anti missile defence system. The radar is designed to detect and track aerodynamic and ballistic targets and to guide interceptor missiles towards them.

The loss of such a radar reduces the effectiveness of the wider air defence complex, as the system depends on coordinated detection, tracking and engagement functions to counter aircraft and missile threats.

The Unmanned Systems Forces published details of the strike and said operational results can be followed through their live online scoreboard, known as “Pidrakhuyka”, available on the official SBS Group website.

The S 300V is a mobile air defence system used by Russian forces to provide protection against aircraft and certain types of ballistic missiles. Its radar component is central to target acquisition and fire control.

The strike forms part of ongoing operations in eastern Ukraine, where Ukrainian forces continue efforts to degrade Russian air defence capabilities and disrupt command and control assets.

The report was released on 28 February 2026 and attributed to “Madyar”.
