(ZAPORIZHZHIA REGION, UKRAINE) – A Ukrainian military intelligence unit carried out a clearing operation in a frontline settlement in the Zaporizhzhia direction, capturing Russian soldiers and removing entrenched enemy positions, according to official statements released on 19 March.

The operation was conducted by the “Khimera” unit within the “Tymur” special unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. Ukrainian officials said Russian infantry groups had established positions inside residential buildings in the area.

Ukrainian reconnaissance troops used coordinated and methodical tactics to dislodge the Russian forces from their positions. The operation involved close quarters combat and systematic clearing of buildings.

During the operation, Ukrainian special forces killed enemy infantry in close engagements and captured those who survived. The prisoners will be added to Ukraine’s exchange pool and may be used in future prisoner exchanges for Ukrainian personnel.

Footage released by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine showed the operation, including movement through buildings and engagement with enemy positions.

In the footage, one voice stated that no friendly forces were encountered along the route, while another warned that continued movement carried risks for all involved.

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine said combat operations continue across multiple directions.
