(KUPIANSK, KHARKIV REGION) – Ukrainian paratroopers have foiled a Russian sabotage attempt near the village of Zahryzove on the Kupiansk front, according to Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces.
Soldiers from the 2nd Airmobile Battalion of the 77th Separate Airmobile Nadniprianska Brigade, part of the 7th Rapid Response Corps of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces, destroyed a group of Russian troops who had attempted to plant mines near the settlement.
Ukrainian troops detected the activity quickly. After identifying the hostile group, Ukrainian forces deployed bomber drones and an assault team to the area.
The assault unit engaged the Russian soldiers in a firefight. Ukrainian forces reported that the enemy group was eliminated during the clash.
According to the brigade, the attempted mining operation was disrupted and the threat in the area was neutralised.
Ukrainian paratroopers continue to hold their positions along the Kupiansk direction. The brigade said Ukrainian troops maintain control of the area and are preventing further attempts by Russian forces to conduct sabotage operations.
