A recent training session conducted by local NGO Bridge for Social Service (BRISS) in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) saw 35 Warrap State journalists gather at Salam Hotel in Kuajok town to enhance their reporting skills in conflict areas.

Themed “Peace and Community Cohesion,” the one-day workshop aimed to equip journalists with the necessary tools to cover stories in hostile environments in a fair and impartial manner.

Santino Manut Walgot, director general of the Warrap State Ministry of Information and Communication, emphasised the importance of neutrality in reporting on sensitive issues.

Lead facilitator Bona Malual highlighted the role of the media in promoting peace and social cohesion, particularly in conflict zones where hate speech can exacerbate tensions.

Journalist Ayuel Santino Manut and Kuajok 99.0 FM reporter Athil Agany both commended the training for reinforcing the principles of unbiased reporting and accuracy in conflict situations.

The training session served as a platform for journalists to exchange knowledge and skills to help reduce tensions and promote peaceful communication through mainstream and social media platforms.
