(MAGWI COUNTY, EASTERN EQUATORIA STATE) – The Magwi Payam Boda Boda Association took decisive action on Monday, 8 December 2025, to clear the Aduce stream, providing a safer and open passage for motorcycles, pedestrians, and vehicles.
The effort comes after repeated incidents where motorcycles became stranded mid-stream, causing damage and delays for commuters. The stream serves as a key route to the main hospital and other critical community facilities, making the clearance project a priority for local residents.
Obale Francko Sam, Chairman of the Boda Boda Union in Magwi Payam, confirmed that the initiative was entirely community-driven and carried out without external support from government agencies or development partners. He welcomed anyone wishing to contribute resources such as water or physical labour to support ongoing maintenance.
Chairman Obale also urged local authorities to recognise the association’s efforts and include them in future development plans, noting their long-standing cooperation with government bodies in community projects.
Residents are now able to cross the Aduce stream safely at any time, significantly reducing the risk of accidents and vehicle damage. The project demonstrates how community-led initiatives can address practical challenges and improve local infrastructure in South Sudan.
