(JUBA) – The Commissioner General of the South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA), Hon. William Anyuon Kuol, recently visited the Anti-Smuggling Unit and Customs Revenue Division to evaluate the units’ performance, achievements, and operational challenges.

The Anti-Smuggling Unit is responsible for preventing the illegal movement of goods into and out of South Sudan. The unit operates at key locations including Nesitu Checkpoint, Gumbo Market, Rajaf Land Port, Mouna Dry Port, and Luri Checkpoint and Bridge.

Hon. Anyuon Kuol noted that the Anti-Smuggling Unit plays a critical role in protecting the local market from unregulated imports and exports, thereby supporting lawful trade and economic stability.

The Commissioner General also inspected the Customs Revenue Division at Juba International Airport, a key entry point for goods and a significant source of national revenue. According to SSRA, this unit contributes approximately 30 percent of total tax revenue collected by the Authority.
