(JUBA) – The Commissioner General of the South Sudan Revenue Authority, William Anyuon Kuol, visited the Domestic Tax Division and the Customs Division on 11 December 2025. The visit focused on meeting staff and discussing the importance of effective and honest tax collection as the country works to increase domestic revenue.

During the meetings, the Commissioner General said tax collection is one of the main ways through which the country can support its development needs. He urged staff to work efficiently and transparently and pointed out that revenue collected helps fund public services across South Sudan. He said the authority acts on behalf of the people and staff must recognise that their work has a direct effect on national progress.

The Commissioner General said revenue collected this fiscal year is important for government operations. For the 2025 to 2026 financial year, the authority aims to mobilise SSP 2.4 trillion, equal to USD 338 million at the current rate of USD 1 = SSP 7,100.

Revenue Mobilisation Targets

Division Target in SSP Target in USD
Domestic Tax Division SSP 1.7 trillion USD 239.4 million
Customs and Mining Division SSP 0.7 trillion USD 98.6 million
Total SSP 2.4 trillion USD 338 million

He reminded staff that honest and efficient collection of these revenues is essential for better services and stronger national development. He said the authority must work in a way that continues to build public trust.

Chol Pual Kur, Commissioner of Domestic Tax Revenue, welcomed the Commissioner General and said the visit motivated staff and gave needed direction. He noted that the Domestic Tax Revenue Division remains committed to mobilising resources for the country under the guidance of the new leadership.

Akec Tong Malek, Commissioner of the Customs Division, also welcomed the Commissioner General. He said this visit gave the division an opportunity to reaffirm its mission and duties. He added that customs staff remain committed to carrying out their responsibilities in support of the revenue mandate.

The South Sudan Revenue Authority said the visits form part of broader efforts to strengthen engagement with staff and improve domestic revenue performance.
