(Juba) – Mary Ayen Majok, the First Deputy Speaker of the Council of States, has been elected as the new President of the South Sudan Volleyball Federation (SSVF), following elections held on Saturday during the Federation’s General Assembly.
Her election marks a notable crossover from national politics to sports leadership, highlighting growing efforts to bring experienced public figures into sports management roles in South Sudan.
The decision was welcomed by stakeholders who believe her leadership experience will bring stability and strategic direction to the sport’s development across the country.
Alongside Ayen, two other key officials were also elected to the Federation’s executive. Samuel Thomas Fawan was chosen as the new Secretary-General, while Joseph Makur Kau was elected Treasurer.
The newly elected team is expected to lead the Federation through the next phase of its operations, including domestic tournaments, grassroots development, and regional competitions.
The General Assembly that elected the new leadership was attended by various stakeholders from across the country, reflecting the The Assembly also signalled a fresh chapter in the administration of volleyball, with renewed focus on organisational professionalism, youth engagement, and gender inclusion in sports.
