(DONETSK REGION, UKRAINE) – Ukrainian forces operating on the Pokrovsk axis carried out a search operation to locate and neutralise a Russian reconnaissance operative who had infiltrated a village near Ukrainian military positions, according to footage released by Ukraine’s Rubizh Brigade.

Ukrainian officials said Russian reconnaissance units in the area are well trained and are primarily tasked with monitoring logistics movements and directing artillery or drone strikes against important Ukrainian targets.

One such Russian operative infiltrated the territory of a village where command observation posts of Ukrainian platoons were located. Ukrainian units intercepted communications indicating that the individual was transmitting information about the movement of Ukrainian equipment and personnel.

After receiving the intercepts, Ukrainian commanders made an urgent decision to locate and eliminate the infiltrator.

Footage released by the 1st Operational Battalion of the Rubizh Brigade shows Ukrainian troops conducting a tense clearing operation around residential buildings in the village.

During the search, Ukrainian soldiers ordered anyone inside nearby houses to come outside and show their hands.

“Hands where I can see them. Raise your hands,” one soldier is heard saying.

The troops warned that if no one exited the building they would begin storming the house.

“If no one comes out, we will start storming the house,” another soldier says.

Shortly afterwards a man appeared and said he was inside.

“I am here,” the man replied.

Soldiers instructed him to come outside and present identification documents.

“Come out. Do you have documents? Show them please,” a soldier said.

Ukrainian troops asked whether anyone else was inside the building. The man said there was nobody else present.

They also questioned him about why he had not left the area and whether he had seen suspicious individuals nearby.

According to the conversation captured in the video, the man said he had heard that enemy forces were somewhere in the area but had not recently seen anyone.

Ukrainian soldiers continued questioning him about whether he had seen any Russian troops.

He said he had last seen two individuals about four days earlier and directed the soldiers towards what he described as a basement shelter in the area.

The search continued as troops moved towards suspected hiding places.

At one stage soldiers shouted repeated orders for a suspect to come out with his hands raised.

“Come out. You will live. I give you my word we will not shoot,” a soldier shouted.

The suspect did not surrender and the situation escalated as Ukrainian troops attempted to locate him inside a building.

Soldiers reported that the suspect appeared to have a grenade and refused to comply with instructions.

Explosions were heard during the confrontation as Ukrainian forces attempted to force the suspect from cover.

Shortly afterwards soldiers reported that the target had been neutralised.

Following the operation Ukrainian troops conducted a search of the area.

During the search they discovered a printed map of the village that had been carefully marked with sectors and reference points.

According to Ukrainian soldiers, this indicated the infiltrator was not a random individual but likely a trained Russian contract soldier with significant experience.

They said surviving for about a month behind Ukrainian lines would require preparation and a particular psychological profile.

The video documenting the operation was produced by the Rubizh Brigade to inform the public about combat operations within its area of responsibility.

The material was presented as documentary footage intended for research, academic and artistic purposes.

The brigade stated that the video does not promote violence or hostility and was released only to document historical events and raise awareness about the realities of the war.

The footage was produced by the Rubizh Brigade and distributed through Ukrainian media outlets.
