UK Defence Secretary Reports Extreme Russian Casualty Ratios

(KYIV) – Russian military casualty rates in Ukraine have reached as high as 25 to every one Ukrainian defender in specific sectors, according to UK Defence Secretary John Healey. These figures coincide with a detailed account from Russian war blogger BCH3 regarding the treatment of Russian convict stormtroopers, illustrating the high attrition tactics employed by Moscow.

The account describes a diverse group of convicts, ranging from petty criminals to hardened individuals, being deployed to the forefront of assaults without receiving medals or formal recognition. Many are reportedly sent into combat despite remaining under “B fitness” status, a category for those with significant health limitations. In one instance, a convict serving a petty sentence had his time in the combat zone extended to five times his original remaining prison term.

The logistics of these assaults are described as hazardous, with the “road of death” toward the front lines resulting in the loss of 10 to 15 motorcyclists daily. First person view drones frequently target these movements. The blogger detailed an incident where a soldier with shattered leg bones attempted to rescue two wounded comrades who subsequently died. Despite suffering two open leg fractures and skull injuries from shrapnel, such soldiers are reportedly patched up and returned to the front.

Supply shortages remain critical for these storm units, which rely heavily on volunteers for basic necessities including body armour, helmets, generators, and ammunition magazines. The blogger noted that previous figures capable of resolving such shortages through high level contacts are no longer available.

Simultaneously, Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR) has targeted Russian assets in occupied Crimea. Recent precision strikes reportedly disabled a Pantsir S1 air defence system, a Nebo-U long-range radar, and a BK16 high-speed landing craft. These operations aim to create gaps in Russian aerial and maritime surveillance.

On the southern Slovyansk axis, the Forpost Brigade of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine destroyed a Russian self-propelled artillery system and multiple logistical vehicles. Further west, in the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian sources have reported a Ukrainian offensive near Stepnohirsk.

Ukrainian forces are reportedly pushing back Russian units along a 20 kilometre front near the drained Kakhovka Reservoir. Russian commentators expressed concern regarding a potential breakthrough toward Vasylivka, noting that Ukrainian aircraft have increased strikes on Russian communications and narrow bottlenecks at the Yanchok and Karach rivers.
