(JUBA) – The Executive Director of the South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS), Hon. Gloria Nyoka, attended the official launch of the UNIPOD South Sudan innovation hub at the University of Juba on Wednesday. Supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) African Regional Bureau, the new centre marks an important step in strengthening South Sudan’s research, innovation, and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
The launch event took place under the theme “Harnessing Innovation for Socio-Economic Growth: Empowering Youth to Shape South Sudan’s Future.” Organisers highlighted the vital role of young people in driving economic progress and national transformation.
Officials said that innovation in South Sudan is focused not only on ideas but also on creating practical solutions that improve livelihoods, support economic growth, and promote sustainable development. UNIPOD is expected to provide a platform for research collaboration, product development, and the nurturing of entrepreneurial talent among South Sudanese youth.
SSNBS confirmed its ongoing commitment to fostering innovation through quality assurance, consumer protection, and research support.
