(LVIV REGION, UKRAINE) – Ukrainian border authorities have reported increased activity by wild animals in border districts of Lviv region as the spring season begins.
According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the arrival of spring in the region brings increased activity not only in nature but also among wildlife living in forested areas near the border.
Border guards say they have recorded more frequent movements of wild animals, encounters with which could present potential risks for travellers moving through the area.
Monitoring systems using photo and video surveillance operate continuously along the border, including in remote and difficult to access locations.
Officials said the technology forms part of a comprehensive border protection system that is being implemented in accordance with European standards and the practices used by NATO member states.
Recent footage captured by border surveillance cameras shows several forest animals moving through the monitored areas.
Among the animals recorded were a wolf, a fox, roe deer and other species that inhabit the forests of the region.
Authorities said the footage demonstrates the range of wildlife living in the border zone.
Border officials have urged citizens to follow the rules governing access to the border area.
Travellers planning walks or excursions near the border are advised to choose authorised routes and remain cautious.
Officials warned that encounters with wild predators could pose a real threat to health and safety.
The State Border Guard Service also reminded the public that violations of the border regime may result in administrative liability.
The information was released by the press service of Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service.
