The SSFA Electoral Committee has disqualified Ms. Ann Nyakuet Taker, the sole female candidate for the position of Second Vice President in the upcoming 2025-2029 South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) elections. This decision was made as Ms. Taker failed to secure the minimum requirement of four nominations from member associations, as per the SSFA statutes.
During a press briefing at the SSFA headquarters on Friday, August 8, Tong Majok, the chairperson of the Electoral Appeal Committee, clarified that the disqualification was a result of an objection raised by Ms. Taker’s opponent, Venansio Amum Deng, concerning her fourth nomination from the Kuajok Football Association.
Tong Majok highlighted that the panel voided this nomination as the same association had also nominated Ms. Taker’s rival, breaching Article 31.4 of the SSFA statutes.
As two of Ms. Taker’s nominations were deemed invalid, including one from the Upper Nile Sport Foundation, she was left with only three valid nominations, falling short of the required number. The appeal committee upheld the objection and directed the electoral committee to exclude her from the final list of candidates.
According to sources, Ms. Taker has filed a complaint with the SSFA Ethics Committee seeking recourse.
SSFA has reaffirmed its dedication to upholding transparency and integrity in the electoral procedures.
