(JUBA) – South Sudan’s Vice President for the Economic Cluster, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, departed Juba on Tuesday for Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on a mission to attract foreign investment and strengthen economic ties.

Dr. Bol Mel, accompanied by senior government officials, is tasked with promoting opportunities for collaboration between South Sudan and the UAE. During the visit, he is expected to deliver a message from President Salva Kiir to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Speaking to reporters in Juba on Tuesday, Oyiti Ajawin, press secretary to VP Bol Mel, said the trip aims to advance both economic and diplomatic cooperation between the two nations.

“It is important for both countries to sit down and explore cooperative measures that will enhance the potential for South Sudan and the UAE to collaborate,” Ajawin said.

The vice president’s itinerary includes high level meetings with government officials, investors  and private sector leaders.
