(JUBA) – The South Sudan Football Association has announced that it is preparing to sign a new cooperation agreement with the Senegalese Football Federation. The partnership aims to improve football development in South Sudan, with a focus on coach training and youth football academies.

Speaking after his return from the United States, where he attended the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw, SSFF President Francis Amin said the two countries have already agreed on the main plans and expect to formalise the agreement soon.

Mr Amin said he also held a number of meetings in the United States with officials from football organisations in Africa and around the world. During his meeting with the FIFA Country Director, both sides agreed to complete the installation of new lighting at Juba Stadium by January next year. The upgraded facilities are expected to boost league games and international fixtures.

Progress on the Football Development Centre in Nesitu was also mentioned. The SSFF President said new initiatives will begin early next year to help improve access to training facilities and football skills among young players.

Mr Amin further spoke about a separate meeting held last month in Doha with officials from the Qatar Football Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Qatar. The talks focused on the start of several new football projects in South Sudan and the strengthening of Qatar’s existing cooperation agreement. He said new clauses will be added to support long term football growth.

He was received on arrival at Juba International Airport by First Vice President Makor Majok, members of the SSFF Executive Committee, and the SSFF Secretary General.

The cooperation between South Sudan and Senegal is expected to support stronger competition in the national league and help national teams perform better in regional and international tournaments.

Possible Benefits of the Senegal Partnership
