(STEPNOHIRS’K, ZAPORIZHZHIA OBLAST) – Ukrainian forces carried out an airstrike using an AASM Hammer guided bomb on a building occupied by Russian troops in Stepnohirs’k in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, according to video footage and geolocation analysis released online.
The video shows a high rise residential building being struck directly. Ukrainian sources reported that Russian troops were concentrated inside the structure at the time of the strike. The number of personnel present was not specified.
The footage indicates that the bomb penetrated several floors before detonating inside the building, producing a large internal explosion. The structure remained standing after the blast, though visible damage was sustained. Ukrainian authorities did not provide details on casualties or the extent of losses among Russian forces.
The AASM Hammer is a precision guided munition supplied to Ukraine by France. In previous operations it has demonstrated high accuracy. In this case, the munition scored a direct hit on the target building.
Open source analyst Alex Baxmore geolocated the strike to a specific high rise structure in Stepnohirs’k, marked in publicly shared imagery. The settlement consists largely of tall residential blocks and lies directly on the front line in contested territory.
Mapping sources indicate that Stepnohirs’k remains under Russian control. Ukrainian forces have launched counter attacks in parts of Zaporizhzhia Oblast in recent weeks, pushing Russian units back in some sectors. Control of certain areas remains unclear due to limited independent reporting.
The strike location is situated on the southern front in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, an area that has seen sustained fighting since the beginning of Russia’s full scale invasion.
