(KYIV, UKRAINE) – Russian officials and commentators have reacted with alarm following the collapse of the regime of Iran’s Supreme Leader. The Kremlin response has been marked by criticism, anxiety and signs of internal disagreement.
Alexander Dugin, a leading ideologue of the so called Russkiy Mir doctrine and previously a strong supporter of the Russian dictator, publicly criticised the Russian leadership. He said the authorities had chosen to pretend that everything was stable while Russia’s influence abroad was weakening.
Dugin argued that in 2025 and 2026 Moscow had simply observed as allied regimes were weakened or destroyed. He said the country faced an exposed geopolitical weakness, pointing to failures to protect allied airspace in Syria and Iran, as well as Russian territory itself.
According to him, the atmosphere inside Russia remains relaxed despite mounting strategic setbacks. He criticised what he described as a refusal to confront reality as Russia friendly governments collapse and parts of Russia increasingly experience security incidents linked to the war.
Recent days saw air raid alerts declared across 13 Russian regions. In several of those areas, residents heard such warnings for the first time. Ukrainian drone operations have increasingly targeted military sites in the European part of Russia, including near Moscow. Russian airports have experienced disruptions as a result of drone threats.
The commentator linked these developments to wider instability following what he described as the collapse of the Blitzkrieg strategy against Ukraine. He suggested that the leadership has limited capacity to assist former allies due to financial and military strain.
The question “Is Putin next?” has circulated widely in online discussions and media commentary. Critics argue that Moscow has failed to provide effective military support to allies in Syria and Iran, despite longstanding cooperation. Iran had supplied Russia with Shahed drones and related technology used against Ukrainian infrastructure and homes.
Ukrainian voices have stressed that dismantling Iranian drone production and related facilities inside Russia is strategically important. They argue that Ukraine should be permitted to use long range missiles against such targets in order to reduce threats not only to Ukraine but also to broader international security.
Reports from Russian sources claim that the Russian dictator has transferred or sold assets, including a large residence reportedly valued at approximately 1.35 billion US dollars, for a nominal sum of 11,000 US dollars. The transaction was said to involve an associate. Observers interpret this as an effort to shield property amid uncertainty.
There have also been reports of the nationalisation and subsequent resale of airport assets to the same associate. Meanwhile, Russian regions have continued to experience missile and drone alerts. Although no major damage was reported in the latest wave, residents were unsettled.
The kremlin is petrified with the collapse of the khameneis regime in Iran. putins russkiy mir ideologist dugin criticises russia the exposed geopolitical weakness in Syria and Iran and predict`s putin will be next.
